Trans Bhutan Trail: Day 9

We were camping overnight yet we were awakened by the sound of our camp staff cell phone notifications and their chatter at 5:30 a.m. We survived the night okay but everything felt cold and wet. We waited around until breakfast at 7:30 then packed up and headed out. We started climbing immediately and spent the first hour and a half going through muddy, wet and overgrown paths. We climbed 1000 feet and unlike other days when we are rewarded with views, today we just got more trees.

We walked down for quite a while and eventually got some nice views.

We continued after that until midday when we stopped for lunch at the Chan-do Stone that legend has was thrown across the valley by the Divine Madman.

After that stop we went down into the Samtengang valley and then climbed for two and a half hours until we reached our campsite. After our arrival we had coffee and cookies and then got cleaned up (best we could).

We were able to have dinner an hour earlier tonight. We enjoyed chicken, veggies and Kiwa datsi (potatoes and cheese). Oh, and of course rice! Then it was time to get some shut eye.

It’s not Glamping, but for camping, it’s pretty nice
